Monthly Favorites: August

Image
1. Getting my first taste as buyer for upcoming lines at AmericasMart in Atlanta.  As I mentioned at the beginning of the month, August brings in a rush of emotions. At the beginning of the month I finished my internship with a trip to Atlanta with my boss and one of my co-workers. We went to that month's Market to shop for new inventory. It was an amazing experience to learn the behind the scenes of buying, and it was so cool to find out what is coming to stores in the upcoming seasons! (Free People's new lines are like nothing I've seen before).  And last week I started my last year of undergrad. It's been surreal to realize that after seventeen years, my time as a student is coming to an end (at least until possible grad school). Being a student has been such a huge part of my identity, so I'm sad to leave school, but excited for all that God has planned for my life.  August also brought unexpected calamity on my town of Charlottesville. As a Charlottesville res...

Charleston Photo Diary

Image
As mentioned in my latest Monthly Favorites , last month I took a day trip to Charleston with my roommates. Charleston is easily one of the most charming cities of the south. Its rich history, beautiful architecture, and waterfront views are hard to compete with. It also has great restaurants and shopping on King Street. One of my favorite bloggers, Julia Hengel of Gal Meets Glam , lives there and uses the city as an amazing back drop for her photos. So of course, my roommates and I had to do our own photo shoot, which we choose to do on the famous Rainbow Row.  Besides seeing Rainbow Row, other highlights of the day included having brunch at a great restaurant called Blossom, shopping on Kings Street (and finding some great sales), and of course seeing the famous Pineapple Statue. Since this was a short trip I'm excited to visit the city again for a longer time, but glad I got to have a fun time there with friends!

Tips for Moving into your Dorm Room (And a Bonus Packing List!)

My freshmen dorm room If you are entering into your first year of college, the thought of packing your life into one side of a room can be daunting. When I packed for my first year of college it was hard to stay organized and make sure I had covered everything. What helped me was looking at lists other people had created. While everyone's packing lists varies, there are core items that you almost definitely need. Looking at these lists helped me start the moving process, so I made my very own college essentials packing list for y'all! Separated by categories, it will help you organize your things for a smoother move-in day! Download It Here! Tips for Moving Day 1. Get on the Road Early I've been helping freshmen move in for the past two years, so I know that the later in the day you move, the hotter and more crowded it is. Getting an early start will help you hopefully beat the rush of other students and stay cool. 2. Pack in Plastic Containers and Luggage Plastic container...

Monthly Favorites: July (late!)

Image
1. Cookies we had made for our customers at our latest social event that were almost too pretty to eat (but not quite).  July was a whirlwind! (Which is why the monthly favorites are late sorry!) I finished up my internship with a bang: an event coordinated by us interns, a trip to Atlanta Market with my boss to buy inventory for the upcoming seasons, and then finally traveling home after living 2 months in another state! Even with the craziness, July was one of my favorite months this entire year. I have been extremely blessed getting to try out so many new things and visit new places. 2. My roommates and I took a super fun day trip to explore Charleston (more photos from that adventure later!) 3. Our work team had two very different but very fun girls' nights outs: one playing at an arcade by the beach (where I got to go zorbing!), and one taking a yoga class together (my first one!). You can see more photos from these nights  here and here . 4. Photographing my first camp...
