Looking Back at 2017

Image
2017 has been a bittersweet year for me. It has come with challenging and even devastating times, but has given me amazing memories and even once in a lifetime experiences.  Hard Times My heart has broken way too many times for those who suffered this year due to terrorism, mass shootings, natural disasters, and being silenced by those in power. I pray for peace, hope, and help those who suffered this year and are still suffering. I did not expect to be personally affected by one of 2017's tragedies, but it seems that no one came out of this year unscathed. It was hard and scary to see my town, places that I walked everyday, overrun by those who believe in sick ideologies. I cried for Heather Heyer, and for those who are so lost and broken that they feel that hate and murder are the answer.  However, God is always bigger than any tragedy. He helped our community come together and heal. This saying is cliche, but I truly believe we became stronger.  Travel 2017 brought man...

Favorite Things: Year End

Image
One of the photo's from my house photoshoot.  Hello! As I've mentioned in earlier posts, the last months of this year have been very busy but also very full of amazing experiences. Here is a roundup of some of my favorite things from the year end! 2. My sweet housemates decorated our mantel for my birthday with our house photos and loving notes. 2. I am still in unbelief in all the celebrities I saw perform at the free benefit concert that was thrown for my town. I had a blast dancing along to Cold Play, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, The Roots, Stevie Wonder and other musicians with my best friend. We loved all of the artists but without a doubt our favorite performance was Justin Timberlake (!!!). 3. I was super excited after my school's football team had a nail biting win in one of the last games of the season. The weather was horrible, and the score was back and forth. However, it made the win all the more memorable. At the end the fans got to rush the field and we a...

My Favorite Looks of 2017

I have had such a fun year sharing my personal style with you all. As 2017 comes to an end I've gathered up my favorite looks from the year. Take a look and come back in 2018 for more outfits! Christmas Scarf

Scarf: H&M, Top: Target, Boots (Pictured Below): Macy's, Leggings (Pictured Below): 90 Degrees, Earrings: Alta'rd State As I mentioned in my last post , I don't own a lot of festive clothing. My style during Christmas is cozy and subtle. Part of the reason why I don't get too much into holiday outfits is because I'm not the biggest fan of the color red. I like cranberry and oxblood, but stay away from true, bright red. This scarf is an exception. I bought it a few years ago during Black Friday weekend because it is super soft and warm and could add the perfect touch of holiday spirit to my outfits when needed.  Shoutout to my mom for taking these photos! Holiday Sweater

Image
Sweaterdress: H&M, Boots: Macy's, Necklace: L Mae Boutique I love Christmas, but I'm not into "Christmas outfits" (you will not catch me wearing red and green at the same time). Instead, during Christmas time I opt to wear color schemes that match the season. This includes cranberry reds, creamy whites, and forest greens like this sweater dress. This sweater has become a go- to cold weather outfit in my closet. It's easy to through on over leggings when I want to dress up a little, but still keeps me comfortable. I will either pair it with a scarf, or a statement necklace like this one. Scarves and statement jewelry can also help an outfit look more "holiday-ish" if you are not the most festive person like me.  What are ways that you dress up for the holidays? I would love to hear your outfit ideas!

Printed Dress and Ballet Flats

Image
Dress: Target Similar here , here , and here As I mentioned in my last post , fall is my favorite season. Fall, especially in my town, is absolutely beautiful. I'm sad to see it officially end, but I've been embracing the Christmas season and am looking forward to the new year.  I bought this dress last year to wear when the weather cooled down. It's lightweight enough to wear in warmer weather with flats, but also can be layered with a jacket and paired with boots when it cools down.  I've been in love with dance ever since my parents put me in classes when I was 3. This dress is so comfortable and pretty that it inspired me to do some ballerina poses (even though my form could definitely use some improvement haha).
