Huntington Beach State Park Photo Diary

Image
As I mentioned in my latest Monthly Favorites post, I recently had a day off from work and decided to go explore a new place. I had noticed signs for Huntington State Park and decided to spend the afternoon there for a visit. The 2,500 acre park has protected wildlife as well as hiking trails, campsites, and even beach access. When I drove through the entrance I was taken aback by the beautiful marsh surrounding me. After strolling along one of the paths beside the water I sat on a bench on one of the observation decks to eat my lunch and watched the egrets and herons fly by. The park is home to hundreds of species of birds and other animals- I even saw an alligator!  I'm an extremely old soul, and love beautiful, peaceful settings. Combining that with my love of photography made the park one of my new favorite places. The best part of my visit was going out onto the marsh walk. Seaside Stripes

Dress, Cross body bag, & Sunglasses: Target Do you have an outfit that is your go-to for the hot summer months? Mine is this dress. It's loose and breezy and bonus!- doesn't show sweat. If it's a scorching hot day and I know I'll be spending a substantial amount of time outside, I wear this dress. The simple striped pattern makes it easy to wear and very fitting for the summer season. These photos were taken on a dock of the Harbor Walk in Historic Georgetown, South Carolina (You can look at my photo diary from that trip  here !). Ironically the day I decided to wear this dress, it wasn't that hot, and the breeze from the water made it even cooler. Nevertheless it was a great casual piece to wear for exploring!

My sister was participating in a Civil Rights research project with one of her professors so we visited the local Rice Museum, which had a guided tour on the history of South Carolina's rice industry.  After the tour we strolled down the sleepy southern streets, stopping for ice cream and peeking into small shops. Besides the cars and air conditioning, it felt like we were transported back to the 1950s. The shops and restaurants were traditional and charming, and the owners were all super friendly and made great conversation. We then ventured to the Harbor walk, which has a line of restaurants and boats along the dock (my favorite boat was one named Sweet Tea). My sister and I stop...
