Monthly Favorites

Image
1. A beautiful postcard one of my best friends bought for me in Munich, Germany.  Last month I started a series called Monthly Favorites. At the end of each month I'll be posting a list of some of my favorite things I did or discovered in the past month! This month was extra special because I moved to the beaches of South Carolina for my job. I'm here for the summer working as a marketing intern at a women's boutique. The past few weeks have been exciting, stimulating, and exhausting but I'm finally feeling at home here. I'll be sharing more about my experience at the end of the summer! 2. During my first few days in South Carolina, my dad, sister and I visited historic Georgetown. It's a charming small section of town right on the water. I'll be sharing more photos from that trip later! 2. As a proud introvert, it was interesting to read this article about the four different types of introversion psychologists have been researching. It even has a test for ...

Skirts for the Workplace

Image
It's summer, which means internship time for me and many other students. With internships comes dressing business casual. Unfortunately, business casual can have a dreaded undertone when you get stuck in a rut of pencil skirts and black dress pants. I've been blessed to work in offices with "loose" dress codes. This means that while jeans and shorts are not necessarily appropriate, I don't have to wear a suit everyday. I can play around with appropriate dresses, pretty blouses, jewelry, and skirts. Skirts are a fun way to look professional, while still being able to have fun dressing up. And with the warm summer months, skirts are helpful for staying cool. Here are some cute pieces I found! 1. Kippling Skirt from Altar'd State, $44.95 This skirt is so pretty and graceful. I like the bright blue hue and appreciate the modest shape and length. It's appropriate, but makes you feel pretty, not stuffy.  2. Posh Spring Skirt from Altar'd State, $54. 95 Wh...

Hometown Bohemian

Image
Top: Target, Jeans: American Eagle This top is one of my absolute favorites. White lace is one of the staple designs in my wardrobe- I'm always drawn to it and have multiple pieces incorporating it. I love pairing this blouse with these flare jeans because the jean's shape and the top's fringe detail give the outfit a 70s vibe (one of my favorite decades of fashion). These photos were taken in my county's "town center" after my sister and I ate lunch at a local restaurant. After eating we ventured to an old antique store across the street that had a small field with wildflowers. One of my favorite things about my hometown is how many open fields and farms there are. They're beautiful to look at and the perfect location to take photos!

Summer Wishlist: Maxi Skirts

Image
This year I have been eyeing full length skirts to incorporate into my wardrobe, especially for the summer. They add a romantic look to any outfit and can be used for semi-formal events, work, or everyday wear. I've been using the above images for inspiration on how to style them. Here are some that I have my eyes on! 1. Vine Wrap Maxi Skirt from Pink Ice, $44.99 I'm a sucker for blue and white patterns and love this one from Pink Ice. This skirt is light and airy can easily be dressed up or worn casually.  2. Marcella Floral Wrap Skirt from Francesca's, $44.00 I like the simple, feminine detail of this skirt. It has a slightly formal look that would make it appropriate for work, but still able to be worn casually in everyday life.  3. Shiva Maxi Skirt from Nordstrom, $49.50 This skirt is bright and sunny, making it perfect for summer. It could also easily transition into fall with a darker colored blouse or jacket, and some boots.  4. Boho Lace Maxi Skirt by Sassy Po...
