Business Casual

Image
Jacket and Blouse: Zara, Shoes: Banana Republic, Purse: Primark It's embarrassing, but I actually don't have that many business casual outfits, especially for the winter. So when I recently had a business casual event to attend I had a small moment of panic. I could have worn one of my black or navy dresses, but when the weather is under fifty degrees, just the thought of wearing a skirt makes me shiver. Thankfully after a friend let me borrow some dress pants I was able to create an appropriate (and warm) ensemble.  I bought this light jacket last month while I was studying abroad in Paris and London. One of my favorite things about Europe was how unapologetically put together everyone dressed. I loved the edgy trends and how people embraced the color black. Before I left I wanted to buy something that emulated that style. I was drawn to this jacket because the leather trim makes it edgy, but the soft knit makes it classy. I'm able to wear it with flats to a business event...

Reading Wishlist

Thanks to my mom, who always made sure I was working on a book, I developed a deep love for reading at an early age and grew up an avid reader. Unfortunately in college, the only times during the year I seem to be able to finish a book for fun is during the summer or holiday season when I'm on breaks from school. One of my goals this year is to carve out more of the leisure time I spend on the internet with reading books I'm interested in. Right now I'm on a non-fiction kick. With the start of the new semester I've learned about some new reads from my classes, Christian fellowship, and friends. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get through all of them. I just have to remind myself m ore reading, less Netflix... 1. The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan I learned about this book, which is credited with helping kick-start the second wave of feminism in the 1960s, in my women and television class. Friedan, who went on to be the first president of the National Orga...

Forest Green

Blouse: H&M, Sweater: Target, Boots: American Rag Forest/emerald green is one of my favorite colors. I love how it can be regal as well as calming. I was drawn to this blouse first and foremost because of the color, but also because of its versatility. Because it's so long it can be worn over leggings- which is great for days when I want to look nice but also want to stay comfy. Also, because it's so silky and lightweight it can transition into the warmer months. I can't wait to experiment with it in the spring and summer.
